COVID-19 in USA

The U.S. past China and Italy with the most confirmed cases of the coronavirus than any country in the world with 85,840 cases. China, where the pandemic began, has reported 81,782 cases while Italy is near third at 80,589.

About 80% of cases are mild, according to one study, but older people with preexisting health issues are more at risk of severe complications like difficulty breathing and lung infections.

One of the top contributors on the nation’s top ranking is cause and effect: The U.S. has drastically modified its testing protocols in order to determine infected people and those who may be carriers of the virus. As testing has increased, so has the number of confirmed cases.
